About Technical University of Denmark

Founded in 1829, DTU is one of Denmark’s foremost institutions of higher learning. Recognized internationally as an elite technical university, they offer different study programmes, providing students with the freedom to pursue their passions and translate it into technology with global impact.


About DTU Summer University

The DTU Summer University programme offers courses with instruction entirely in English for BSc students of engineering or related natural science programmes. HKUST-nominated students will join DTU Summer University in in-person mode only.

  • Host Institutions may provide orientation activities for students, with some mandatory, which you should attend. You are required to pay attention to the host institution's arrival information and arrive in time.
  • You should only depart after completion of the program (i.e. finishing all final examinations and/or assessments, both compulsory and optional ones).


Fees

HKUST-nominated students will have tuition fee waived. HKUST students will bear the costs for accommodation, meals, travel, visa, insurance, personal expenses and all other costs incurred by the program.

Eligibility and Application Process

HKUST students must apply through the Office of Global Learning. Individual direct application to the host institution will not be accepted. You are eligible to apply for the program if you:

[For SENG students ONLY] 
  • are enrolling in one of the following first majors
    • School of Engineering majors
    • Dual Degree Program in Technology and Management: Engineering and Business
    • Data Science and Technology
    • Integrative Systems and Design
  • have completed at least 4 regular terms in SENG; priority will be given to students in year 3 or above
[For SSCI students ONLY]
  • are enrolling in one of the following first majors
    • School of Science majors
    • Dual Degree Program in Technology and Management: Biotechnology and Business
    • Data Science and Technology
    • Mathematics and Economics
    • Biotechnology and Business
  • priority will be given to students in year 2 or above

Visa Information

Depending on your nationality and the length of your stay you may need a visa to enter Denmark. Please CLICK HERE for more information.


Health Insurance

HKUST students who take part in the University's study abroad programs will be covered by the University's Travel Insurance Plan. Please CLICK HERE for details.


Accommodation

HKUST students must stay in one of the accommodation options offered by the host institution (if applicable). If you choose not to stay in any of them, you must obtain a pre-approval from HKUST by emailing OGL at study.abroad@ust.hk.

Students may submit an application for the housing during DTU Summer University, but it is not guaranteed. For the period between two sessions, students are responsible to arrange your own accommodation. For details, please CLICK HERE for details.
