About Boston University Summer Term
Boston University offered its first summer course in 1915. This summer, BU offers over 700 challenging summer courses, where students will have the opportunity to engage in rigorous academic coursework and study with Boston University students and hundreds of international students from around the globe.
HKUST-nominated students will choose two courses in the six-week Summer 2 session.
Program Date
1 July - 9 August 2024 (6 weeks)
Notes:
- Host Institutions may provide orientation activities for students, with some mandatory, which you should attend. You are required to pay attention to the host institution's arrival information and arrive in time.
- You should only depart after completion of the program (i.e. finishing all final examinations and/or assessments, both compulsory and optional ones).
Fees
This is a fee-paying program and HKUST-nominated students will bear the tuition fee and the costs for accommodation, meals, travel, visa, insurance, personal expenses and all other costs incurred by the program. HKUST-nominated students will be given a waiver of the application fee and 15% discount on tuition. Visa Information
Boston University will issue an I-20 for full-time study students who take courses at BU to apply for an F-1 student visa. Full-time study is defined as registration for a minimum of 8 credits in one summer session. More information can be found HERE.
Health Insurance
All international students enrolled during the summer are required to have medical insurance and are automatically enrolled in and charged for Boston University’s Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) as part of their registration. For details, please CLICK HERE.

Accommodation
On-campus accommodations are available. Access to the online housing application will be provided by BU Summer Term office via email once students have been registered for their courses.
