About Linköping University
Linkoping University (LiU) was founded in 1975, it is one of Sweden’s larger academic institutions and among those that offer the largest number of professional degree programmes, in fields such as medicine, education, business, economics and engineering. There are four campuses in three cities: Campus Valla and Campus US (both in Linkoping), Campus Norrkoping (Norrkoping) and Campus Lidingo – Carl Malmsten Furniture Studies (Stockholm).
About LiU Summer Academy
The LiU Summer Academy is a four-week credit-bearing programme at the Linköping University Valla in Linköping. Students will have the chance to immerse in the vibrant academic community and build lasting connections with fellow students from around the globe, expanding your horizons and fostering cultural awareness that will serve you well in your future endeavours. The courses offered at LiU delve into the cutting-edge research and educational disciplines for which LiU is renowned, providing students with a unique chance to explore academic excellence. Beyond the classroom, students will also discover the picturesque landscapes and rich heritage of East Sweden, all while soaking up the fascinating nuances of Swedish culture.

Fees
HKUST-nominated students will have tuition fee waived. HKUST students will bear the costs for accommodation, meals, travel, visa, insurance, personal expenses and all other costs incurred by the program.

Eligibility and Application Process
HKUST students must apply through the Office of Global Learning. Individual direct application to the host institution will not be accepted. You are eligible to apply for the program if you:

Visa Information
Some students are required to apply for an entry visa before arriving in Sweden for studies less than 90 days. Check the list of countries that need a visa on the Government Offices of Sweden's website. LiU are unable to assist with the visa process and recommends contacting the nearest Swedish Embassy or Consulate for more information.
New travel requirements for entering Europe will be introduced at the end of 2026 (exact start date not yet specified). Read more: ETIAS – A New EU System for Travel Information and Authorisation. If you require a visa, begin the application process as soon as you receive acceptance to the LiU Summer Academy.

Health Insurance
HKUST students who take part in the University's study abroad programs will be covered by the University's Travel Insurance Plan. Please CLICK HERE for details.
Accommodation
HKUST students must stay in one of the accommodation options offered by the host institution (if applicable). If you choose not to stay in any of them, you must obtain a pre-approval from HKUST by emailing OGL at study.abroad@ust.hk.
