About Humboldt-Universitaet zu Berlin
The Humboldt University of Berlin is a public research university in the central borough of Mitte in Berlin, Germany. The university was founded in Berlin in 1810, and the foundation concept of Wilhelm von Humboldt gave it the title "Mother of all modern universities". This concept envisaged a "Universitas litterarum" which would achieve a unity of teaching and research and provide students with an all-round humanist education.
About Humboldt Internship Program
The international short-term program offers three months of subject-specific learning in a real working environment. As part of a research team or a start-up, you will gain exciting insights into a wide range of academic fields, individual support during your stay.

Program Dates
The program dates vary depending on each specific research program. HKUST-nominated students can only attend the session falling on 1 June 2026 - 21 August 2026.

Fees
This is a fee-paying program and HKUST students will bear the program fee and the costs for accommodation, travel, visa, insurance, personal expenses and other fees incurred by the program. Please CLICK HERE for more information.

Eligibility
HKUST students must apply through the Office of Global Learning. Individual direct application to the host institution will not be accepted. Students who have fulfilled the below requirements are eligible to apply for the program:
Visa Information
Depending on your nationality and the length of your stay you may need a visa to enter Germany. Please refer to Federal Foreign Office for information.
Insurance
HKUST students who take part in the University's research abroad programs will be covered by the University's Travel Insurance Plan. Please CLICK HERE for details.
Accommodation
Humboldt-Universität does not provide accommodations for participants of Humboldt Internship Program. Students are responsible for looking for their own accommodation. Once you have been admitted to the program, Humboldt-Universität will provide recommendations and links to help you find an apartment or room in a shared flat in Berlin.
