About Tallinn University
Tallinn University was founded in 2005 as a public university, and is the largest university of humanities in Tallinn and the third biggest public university in Estonia. Tallinn offers and develops education and research focusing on the needs of Estonia as a society. Tallinn University is very strongly committed to internationalisation.
Tallinn University is situated in a compact campus within the city centre. In front of the University there is the "Tallinn University" tram stop, behind the university, only a few hundred metres away, stands the sea gate of Estonia - Port of Tallinn. Only a few hundred metres away you can find the peaceful Kadriorg Park and the Presidential Palace.
As the capital and largest city in Estonia, Tallinn is a major European political, cultural and educational centre. Often called the Europe’s answer to Silicon Valley, E-Estonia has the highest number of startups per person in Europe and is the birthplace of many international companies including Skype. It is also the home of the NATO Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence.
About Tallinn Winter School
Tallinn Winter School is a 3-week program running in January, combining a wide range of courses with a rich, diverse cultural program and attracting participants from all over the world. In addition to a variety of social events, participants visit museums, historical sights, places of cultural importance, and see some of the nature of Estonia on weekend trips to different locations within the country. Tallinn Winter School manages to maintain a scholarly approach alongside a relaxed atmosphere, studying at the same time as exploring the culture of Estonia.
HKUST-nominated students are required to take one of the courses. For details, please refer to their website. Students are also recommended to participate in their cultural program listed on their website.

HKUST-nominated students are required to pay the tuition, accommodation and cultural programme fees, as well as the travel, visa, insurance, personal expenses and other administrative fees.

HKUST students who take part in the University's study abroad programs will be covered by the University's Travel Insurance Plan. Please CLICK HERE for details.
Accommodation
HKUST students participating in this program will be accommodated in the Tallinn University International Student Hostel. The booking for the Tallinn University student hostel goes through Tallinn Winter School. Students can choose to stay at the hostel upon application, and no separate application is required.
