HKUST Undergraduate Outbound Exchange Program (Spring-Special Term)
This special study abroad opportunity is offered by HKUST exchange partners and is an one-off arrangement only.
Eligibility
You are eligible to apply only if you fulfil the requirements below:
- HKUST full-time undergraduate students who are currently in Year 3 (and Year 4 for students of Dual Degree Program);
- With a current CGA of 2.65 or above;
- Students who have not participated in the exchange program before and do not have a confirmed exchange placement for Spring Term 2020;
- Students who have not withdrawn from any exchange programs before.
Application
- In order to meet the application deadline of the host institutions, students should prepare to complete the application procedures within a very tight schedule.
- Students will need to submit a formal application to the host institution after the internal selection. The final admission decision rests with the host institution.
- All parts of the application must be submitted by the prescribed deadline. Incomplete and late application will not be considered. Make sure your click on "Submit Application" button on the application page in order to submit your application.
- Application decisions will be released on MyStudyAbroad (with email notification sent to your HKUST email account). You are advised to check email regularly (including your junk folder).
Required Documents
Please prepare the documents listed below and upload on MyStudyAbroad by the application deadline. It is not necessary to submit hard copies.
- HKUST unofficial transcript downloaded from the Student Information System
- Resume
- Personal essay
- English proficiency score report (e.g. TOEFL / IELTS)
Selection Criteria
Selection will be based on your academic standing as well as the information which you have provided in your application.
Application Results
The results will be announced via MyStudyAbroad. The offer is a confirmation of HKUST’s nomination. The final admission decision rests with the host institution. The host institution also does not guarantee that you will be able to enroll into any specific courses, as course registration is, in most cases, a separate process. If you decide to take this offer and confirm your participation in this program, you must be prepared to be flexible with the follow-up arrangements, including, but not limited to, course selection.
Accepting the offer
To commit to the offer, you must:
- Follow the instructions in the MyStudyAbroad system to commit to the offer. This may require the signing of some forms online in the system.
Declining the offer and withdrawal
If you withdraw your exchange application after application submission or after accepting the offer, you are subject to the penalty as set by your School.

Study Plan & Credit Transfer
Please visit HKUST Study Abroad website for details. Students are responsible to check with the host institution on the course/program completion requirements to be awarded the credits.
Visa Information
You will be responsible to ensure that you have the appropriate visa and documents for studying in the destination country. You are advised to check with the corresponding Consulate General for the details.
Health Insurance
Health insurance is mandatory for some institutions. You will be provided further details upon acceptance.

The host institution cannot guarantee accommodation for you and you must prepare to look for your own accommodation..
