About National Chengchi University

National Chengchi University (NCCU) was founded in 1927. Over the past 8 decades through re-formation and development, NCCU has been upholding their motto, “Harmony, Independence, Balance and Preeminence”, and has continued to refine teaching methods and research in order to nurture talent. NCCU currently has 9 colleges excelling in the Liberal Arts, Law, Commerce, Science, Foreign Languages, Social Sciences, Communication, International Affairs and Education, 34 departments, and 48 postgraduate institutes, of which 34 offer doctoral programs.
 

About Taipei

Taipei City is located in northern Taiwan, including the northeastern part of the Taipei Basin and the surrounding hilly region, is the largest city in Taiwan. Taipei City houses various ethnic groups, such as aborigines, Minnans, Hakkas, mainlanders, new immigrants and expats.

The cultural kaleidoscope of Taiwan's capital city pulses wherever you go. And throughout the city there are plenty of trails, parks, and other oases of tranquility to lift and invigorate your spirits.

Term date

  • Host Institutions usually organize orientation activities for exchange students, with some mandatory, which take place 1-2 weeks before the start of the term. You should refer to the acceptance package and pay attention to the expected arrival or pick-up dates specified by your host institution.
  • You should only depart after finishing all the final examinations (including resits) since host institutions will not make special arrangement for taking any examinations other than scheduled.

Eligibility (for students applying via School of Humanities and Social Science)

SHSS students are eligible to apply for the outbound exchange program by meeting ALL the requirements below.

  • Must complete at least three regular terms of study in the program prior to exchange
  • With CGA 2.7 or above by the time of applying; CGA 2.5 or above for programs in mainland China
  • A proof of English Language Proficiency (as required)
NOTE: Nomination decision rests with SHSS while final decision rests with the host university.

Application Process

To apply, click the "Apply Now via SHSS" button on this page. The whole application process has two steps.

Step 1: Complete HKUST application form and submit supplementary documents
 
Step 2: The Host Institution Application (TO BE COMPLETED AFTER YOU ARE NOMINATED BY YOUR SCHOOL)

If you are nominated, you will be notified to submit a formal host institution application. Your School will provide you with detailed information and application instructions in due course.
