About Stony Brook University
The State University of New York at Stony Brook (SUNY Stony Brook), commonly known as Stony Brook University, is a public research university in Stony Brook, New York, east of New York City on Long Island. It is a part of the State University of New York (SUNY) system, which is the largest university system in the US comprised of 64 campuses.
About Global Academic Program
The Global Academic Program allows newly admitted and visiting international students the opportunity to enroll in academic courses at Stony Brook. All students are required to enroll in a minimum of six (6) credits. Students in the Global Academic Program are eligible to participate in our GSI cultural excursions.

* Notes:
- • HKUST engineering students are not allowed to enroll in Chinese Language courses (e.g.: CHI111, CHI112, CHI201, CHI422).
- The date above indicates the period of mandatory activities in the programs. They do not include travel time, pre-arrival preparation, orientation etc.
- Host institution may organize orientation activities for exchange students before the start of the program. You should refer to the acceptance package and pay attention to the expected arrival or pick-up dates specified by your host institution.
- You should only depart after finishing all the final examinations and program requirements since host institutions will not make special arrangement for taking any examinations other than scheduled.

Eligibility & Selection Criteria
- Applicants should be in good academic standing with a CGA NOT lower than 2.150 in Fall Term 2023-24. (Students are expected to maintain good academic standing in Spring Term 2023-24.)
- Applicants will have completed at least 2 regular terms of study in the School of Engineering but will NOT have completed all degree requirements by the end of Spring Term 2023-24.
- Students in the BEng+BBA Dual Degree Program are eligible to apply.
- Applicants should have a good command of the English language.
- All applicants must attend a selection interview held by the School of Engineering in February. Absence from the interview without prior approval from the School of Engineering Exchange Office will result in automatic rejection of the application.
- Applicants who have been disqualified by the School of Engineering from Engineering Summer Exchange Program cannot apply.

Step 1: Complete HKUST application form and submit supplementary documents
Step 2: The Host Institution Application (TO BE COMPLETED AFTER YOU ARE NOMINATED BY YOUR SCHOOL)
If you are nominated, you will be notified to submit a formal host institution application. Your School will provide you with detailed information and application instructions in due course.
