About University of Oxford
As the oldest university in the English-speaking world, Oxford is a unique and historic institution. There is no clear date of foundation, but teaching existed at Oxford in some form in 1096 and developed rapidly from 1167.
Exeter is Oxford’s fourth oldest college and was founded on 4 April 1314. Its founder, Walter de Stapeldon, was a Devon man who rose from a humble background to become Bishop of Exeter and Treasurer of England under Edward II. He founded the College to provide an educated clergy for his diocese. During its first centuries, Exeter drew its members mainly from Devon and Cornwall. In the 20th century the College expanded, like the rest of the University. In 2017 the College opened a site on Walton Street, Cohen Quad, which provides research and teaching space, an auditorium for concerts, dramatic performances and guest speakers, storage space for the College’s special collections plus a special collections reading room, a café, and accommodation for 90 students.
About The Exeter College Summer Programme (ECSP)
The six-week Summer Programme at Exeter College, Oxford is a unique opportunity to experience undergraduate life at the oldest university in the English-speaking world.
The Exeter Summer Programme models itself on Oxford undergraduate teaching. Through lectures, seminars and tutorials, you will undertake research-focused tuition and assessment. The tutorial system, one of the key strengths of an Oxford undergraduate education, brings students together with Faculty in tutorials and seminars. Such teaching ensures students get direct, expert guidance as they undertake in-depth study in a chosen area of research.
ECSP 2026 offers 12 lecture courses and you can choose to take two courses with no time clash. Please CLICK HERE for program details.
