About The Hebrew University of Jerusalem


The Hebrew University of Jerusalem (HU), founded in 1918 and opened officially in 1925. The University consists of 6 campuses, It maintains three campuses: the Mount Scopus campus for the humanities and social sciences; the Edmond J. Safra Campus for exact sciences; and the Ein Karem Campus for medical sciences. Its other campuses are the Rehovot faculty for agriculture, food, veterinary medicine and environmental sciences; the veterinary hospital in Beit Dagan; and the Interuniversity Institute for Marine Sciences in Eilat. Its student body numbers 23,000 students from Israel and 65 other countries. In Jerusalem, HU has 7 faculies, including Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences, Law, Mathematics & Sciences, Medicine, Dental Medicine and Agriculture, Food & Environment.


About Jerusalem

Jerusalem is the capital and largest city in Israel. It is one of the oldest cities and unique place in the world. In Jerusalem you can find architecture and heritage from the first century and modern wine bars in the city centre. Jerusalem is big and can be divided into districts: the Old City, West Jerusalem, East Jerusalem, Mes Shearim, Ein Kerem etc.

Term date

  • Host Institutions usually organize orientation activities for exchange students, with some mandatory, which take place 1-2 weeks before the start of the term. You should refer to the acceptance package and pay attention to the expected arrival or pick-up dates specified by your host institution.
  • You should only depart after finishing all the final examinations (including resits) since host institutions will not make special arrangement for taking any examinations other than scheduled.

Eligibility (for students applying via School of Humanities and Social Science)

SHSS students are eligible to apply for the outbound exchange program by meeting ALL the requirements below.

  • Must complete at least three regular terms of study in the program prior to exchange
  • With CGA 2.7 or above by the time of applying; CGA 2.5 or above for programs in mainland China
  • A proof of English Language Proficiency (as required)
NOTE: Nomination decision rests with SHSS while final decision rests with the host university.
 

Application Process

To apply, click the "Apply Now via SHSS" button on this page. The whole application process has two steps.

Step 1: Complete HKUST application form and submit supplementary documents
 
Step 2: The Host Institution Application (TO BE COMPLETED AFTER YOU ARE NOMINATED BY YOUR SCHOOL)

If you are nominated, you will be notified to submit a formal host institution application. Your School will provide you with detailed information and application instructions in due course.
