Program Highlights
- Capstone module: Students would read the module ‘Field Studies in Biodiversity’ which would include a 1-week field trip to the luscious tropical island, Pulau Tioman, off East coast of Peninsular Malaysia where they would expect to experience unique tropical ecosystems such as rainforest, freshwater stream, mangroves and the coral reefs under the guidance of experienced field biologists.
- Learn another language: Students would take introductory courses in either Chinese or Indonesian language (which are amongst the top 14 languages spoken in the world). To learn a new language in 5 weeks, students would need to be prepared to invest time and effort (3-4 hours of classes daily, 5 days a week).
- Immerse in the culture of Singapore: Beyond studies, weekly trips and tours around our unique island “Singapore” would be organized for students to experience the fascinating culture, cuisine and sights of Singapore. By the end of the summer, you would be fully immersed in our multifaceted and multicultural city and as well as the Asian and Singaporean way of life.

Academic Programme
Students will enroll in 2 modules (worth 8 Modular Credits) of which please note the following:
- LSM4263 Field Studies in Biodiversity
- Either LAB1201 Bahasa Indonesia I or LAC1201 Chinese I*
Students are to expect that they will spend approximately the same amount of time on the biodiversity module as well as the language module.
*The language modules are meant for students with no prior knowledge of the target language. Students who have prior knowledge of the target language (e.g. Chinese) should refrain from choosing it (e.g. LAC1201 Chinese 1).

Tuition fee for the two modules are waived for nominated exchange students, but students would be required to pay for the NUS Miscellaneous Student Fees (MSF):

Eligibility
You are eligible to apply for the exchange program if you are:
- All undergraduate students in the School of Science (priority given to year 2 or above LIFS & OCES students)
- AND having CGA at 2.5 or above (students with CGA below 2.5 may still submit application; offers will be granted under special consideration)

Step 1: Complete HKUST application form and submit supplementary documents
Step 2: The Host Institution Application (TO BE COMPLETED AFTER YOU ARE NOMINATED BY YOUR SCHOOL)
If you are nominated, you will be notified to submit a formal host institution application. Your School will provide you with detailed information and application instructions in due course.
Visa Information
All international students need to obtain a valid Student’s Pass (Student Visa) issued by the Singapore Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) for their studies at NUS.

Accommodation
Participants will be put up at Prince George’s Park Residences (PGPR) and will pay the “NUS Student” room rates. Accommodation for participants will be confirmed nearer to the programme start date.
