About Lund University

Lund University (LU) was founded in 1666. Today it is an international centre for research and education that has approximately 42 000 students. It is respected as one of the best universities in Sweden. The University has an excellent academic reputation with a large number of visiting professors and international students. Lund University has over 300 courses available for exchange students. It also offers more than 50 master’s programmes taught in English.The University is ranked as one of the top 100 in the world. LU provides education and research in engineering, science, law, social sciences, economics and management, medicine, humanities, theology, fine art, music and drama. LU's 42,000 students and 7,680 employees are based at the campuses in Lund, Malmö and Helsingborg.

About Lund

Lund was founded in 990 when Scania belonged to Denmarkand and it has been well visited ever since. Based on the southwest ridge of Romeleasen, Lund is today Sweden’s 11th biggest city and is popular for its cathedral and university. Lund has a well developed public transport network making it easy to get around. The city of Lund has a population of about 85,430 (114,000 in Lund's municipality), and almost half of its population is comprised of students. Lund is very close to Sweden's third largest city, Malmo, as well as the Danish capital Copenhagen.

Term date

  • Host Institutions usually organize orientation activities for exchange students, with some mandatory, which take place 1-2 weeks before the start of the term. You should refer to the acceptance package and pay attention to the expected arrival or pick-up dates specified by your host institution.
  • You should only depart after finishing all the final examinations (including resits) since host institutions will not make special arrangement for taking any examinations other than scheduled.

Eligibility (for students applying via School of Science)

You are eligible to apply for the exchange program if you are:

  • non-final year undergraduate student in a 3-Year program in the School of Science, or
  • Year 2 or 3 undergraduate student in the 4-Year program in the School of Science
  • AND having CGA at 2.5 or above (students with CGA below 2.5 may still submit application; offers will be granted under special consideration)


Application Process

Step 1: Complete HKUST application form and submit supplementary documents
 
Step 2: The Host Institution Application (TO BE COMPLETED AFTER YOU ARE NOMINATED BY YOUR SCHOOL)

If you are nominated, you will be notified to submit a formal host institution application. Your School will provide you with detailed information and application instructions in due course.
