Program Overview

About National Central University

National Central University (NCU) was originally founded in Nanjing, China in 1915. NCU had later developed into a renowned academic institution with comprehensive programs and outstanding faculty, enjoying a high reputation equal to that of Peking University. In 1962, the Graduate Institute of Geophysics was founded in Miaoli, Taiwan as the re-establishment of the University. The campus was relocated to Jhongli in 1968, and today it has become a home to more than thirteen thousand students and teachers.

As one of the leading universities in Taiwan, NCU has eight colleges: Liberal Arts, Science, Engineering, Management, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Earth Sciences, Hakka Studies, and Health Science and Technology, along with several research centers covering cutting-edge disciplines. NCU is also one of the members of the University System of Taiwan, sharing resources with Tsing Hua University, Chiao Tung University, and Yang Ming University.


About Taoyuan

Taoyuan, at the edge of the Greater Taipei Region, made some structural and life-style changes within its society. Where the Taoyuan International Airport is situated, Taoyuan is the most important gateway of Taiwan to the outside world.

From an agricultural based city to an economical metropolitan city, Taoyuan is now a major economic district in Northern Taiwan with major sea routes to Southeast and Northeast sea.

Term date

  • Host Institutions usually organize orientation activities for exchange students, with some mandatory, which take place 1-2 weeks before the start of the term. You should refer to the acceptance package and pay attention to the expected arrival or pick-up dates specified by your host institution.
  • You should only depart after finishing all the final examinations (including resits) since host institutions will not make special arrangement for taking any examinations other than scheduled.

Eligibility (for students applying via School of Science)

You are eligible to apply for the exchange program if you are:

  • non-final year undergraduate student in a 3-Year program in the School of Science, or
  • Year 2 or 3 undergraduate student in the 4-Year program in the School of Science
  • AND having CGA at 2.5 or above (students with CGA below 2.5 may still submit application; offers will be granted under special consideration)


Application Process

Step 1: Complete HKUST application form and submit supplementary documents
 
Step 2: The Host Institution Application (TO BE COMPLETED AFTER YOU ARE NOMINATED BY YOUR SCHOOL)

If you are nominated, you will be notified to submit a formal host institution application. Your School will provide you with detailed information and application instructions in due course.
