About Xi'an Jiaotung University
Xi'an Jiaotong University is a Chinese C9 League university with strengths in engineering, technology, and public health located in Xi'an, Shaanxi,China. The university is a sister institution to Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
Xi'an Jiaotong University is a comprehensive research university offering programs in nine areas—science, engineering, medicine, economics, management, art, law, philosophy and education—with an emphasis on science, technology, and public health. It includes 26 schools, 9 university colleges for undergraduates, and 20 affiliated teaching hospitals. XJTU has a faculty and staff of more than 6000 , of which 3,081 are full-time teachers, including over 1500 professors and associate professors. Pursuant to its precept that “talent makes the university strong,” XJTU has continues to add to its strength by attracting to the campus leaders in a wide range of disciplines and will continue the process of building its team of top-level talent.
XJTU has a current enrollment of more than 40,000 full-time students, including over 19,000 postgraduates. The university offers 87 undergraduate majors, and there are 31 first-level disciplines authorized to confer doctorate degrees, 45 first-level disciplines authorized to confer master’s degrees, areas including engineering, clinical medicine, business, and MPA; it has 20 research facilities for post-doctoral students, 5 national key laboratories, 7 national engineering research centers and 115 key research centers and laboratories at the provincial and ministerial level.
Xi'an, located in central-northwest China, records the great changes of the country just like a living history book. Called Chang'an (meaning the eternal city) in ancient times, it is the oldest of China's Four Great Ancient Capitals, serving as the capital city of 13 dynasties spreading intermittently across a 1,100-year period from 221 BC. It is often called the birthplace of Chinese civilization. As the eastern terminal of the Silk Road and the site of the famous Terracotta Warriors of the Qin Dynasty, the city has won a reputation all over the world.
- Host Institutions usually organize orientation activities for exchange students, with some mandatory, which take place 1 week before the start of the term. As stipulated by the host institution, there may be extra quarantine measures required by the host institution on top of the mandatory measures imposed by the government. You should refer to the acceptance package and pay attention to all the important information provided by your host institution.
- You should only depart after finishing all the final examinations (including resits) since host institutions will not make special arrangement for taking any examinations other than scheduled.

As stipulated by the host institution, only students from Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau are accepted.
There is CGA requirement of over 2.8 and no failing courses. Students whose CGA lower than 2.8 may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Also, students who are in final year are not eligible to apply.
