About Sungkyunkwan University
Founded in 1398, Sungkyunkwan University is the oldest university in East Asia, which continuously strives to integrate its founding tradition philosophy with the modern technology in order with a view to cultivating global talents who will lead the 21st century.
Modern SKKU has a Humanities and Social Science Campus in Seoul and a Natural Sciences Campus just south of Seoul in Suwon. SKKU has developed world-leading academic programs in business & management, software, engineering, medicine, biotechnology, and nanotechnology, among many others.
About Winter International Student Experience (WISE)
The Winter International Student Experience (WISE) is a 3-week academic and cultural immersion program hosted by Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU). All WISE courses maintain the same academic rigor and credit standards as those offered during the regular semesters, ensuring a high-quality and meaningful learning experience.
All courses are conducted in English.
This winter, students can choose from a diverse range of courses across multiple fields — including Korean Studies, Language and Culture, Business, Engineering, and Social Sciences — taught by SKKU professors and visiting faculty.
HKUST-nominated students are required to take courses delivered in face-to-face format. Cultural activities and field trips are also available for students. Course information can be found HERE.

Visa Information
Students may require obtaining a visa to participate in this program depending on your nationality. To check whether or not you need a visa for your participation in this summer program, please contact the nearest Korean Embassy or Consulate Office or visit the website of Ministry of Justice Korea Immigration Service for information.
With reference to the information given by the Consulate General, students who attend a credit-bearing summer/winter school program should apply for D-2-8 visa. Therefore, students must apply for D-2-8 type visa, even though some host institutions would also recommend students to apply for C-3-1 type. If students applied for C-3-1 visa and students eventually could not participate the committed HKUST Winter Study Abroad program, withdrawal and penalty policy stated on the HKUST Winter Study Abroad program brochure page would be applied.
Insurance
International students are required to be properly insured. You can also check SKKU's website for more information by clicking HERE.
HKUST students who take part in the University's study abroad programs will be covered by the University's Travel Insurance Plan. Please CLICK HERE for details.
